When we got to U street there were three older guys who got on the bus and there were three young guys who either moved or asked if they would like to sit down...all of the older gentlemen got seats. It happened again a few blocks down the street where this old guy gets on and a young guy in his 20's gets up immediately and gives the guy his seat. While these are small acts of kindness it shows that there are young people in the city that do respect their elders and that were brought up right. Tell me when you have seen someone on the train give their seat up for a pregnant woman or an elderly person...maybe once in four years for me. While the bus isn't always the best mode of transportation I find it very refreshing to see the same faces everyday and to hear the random conversations vs. the awkward silence on the train.
This morning made me have just a glimmer of hope for our community that there are still people who care...take a moment today and perform an act of kindness.

I've noticed people are way more considerate on the bus than they are on the train. I think it's because most people that ride the bus are from here and they were raised with that Southern touch o' class.
