glad to be back in DC even if the weather is crappy. Looking forward to seeing all my DC peeps but will miss the peeps in Texas that I met. I know I'm back in dc since I am outside smoking waiting on luggage and a dude rolled up asking fot a light so he could smoke a doobie. Priceless.

Update on My Mom

Unfortunately we still don't know when she will be having surgery...they have to do more tests. They found a shadow on her chest x-ray and want to make sure that it is just that (a shadow). Poor Mom has to have another CT scan of her lungs today...totally sucks for her. She then has to wait for the Dr. to call to make another appt. to talk about results and schedule surgery. The waiting is endless and quite frankly frustrating.

Guess I actually could have gone to visit DJ Skittles in TX but instead Big Jackie is filling in for me. He will be arriving around 8:00 tonight to the San Antonio...good times friend.

I am sad

let me just say this is in no way directed at my peeps in Texas. Cool kids and they rock. I am sitting at Rita"s having a meal. There is some douchebag from houston sitting next to me bragging about the racist shit he is bringing back to his neighbors . I won't even tell you what he is saying I am so offended. OK, I get it. You had some messed up stuff happen because of IKE. However, that is no reason for people to be like that. WAKE UP AMERICA. This is 2008. There is no reason for racial intolerance. This is a country that was founde don the premise that all men and women are equal, regardless of color, sexual preference or gender. Or so I thought. I am saddened abd angry that there are still people like this in the world. To my Mexican, Africam America, gay and straight friends I love you. I am blessed to have such a diverse group of friends that I call family. PS. What's
so sad about this is this dudes daughter just vame to the bar and she is African American. I am guessing she would not be so proud of her daddy after what I heard him call Africam Americans early. Fucking douchebag..

Not Our Pollys

At least for those of us that roll on U street. This is suppsed to be a very hip 80s and 90s retro bar. Now I have not been in it yet but the kids that I am talking to at Mad Dos seem to dig it. Yes, I am at the Mad Dogs again. Where else would I be on a tuesday night. Or a Wednesday. Thursday. Fridat: you get the idea. I am assuming that my friend the district will want to go to Pollys while he is here. Seems like its right up his alley. I have to say no to him wearing the purple boots though. Don't even think about it friend. Just sayin.

Old Friends together

I probably blog this everytime I come here but it sure is nice to be in a bar where drinking and smoking are allowed. And after that trainwreck of a flight both are much needed together. Although my smoking will probably increase due to this.

Seriousy??

This is the tarmac that I had to walk on to get onto the plane in NC. Let me rant for a second. So Imy company paid a good amount for me to have a window seat. One would expect an actual window to be there when paying for said window seat. Oh no, not on this flight. And it gets better. The people in front of me have a small child that is scraming its head off. Their reaction. And I quote, guess its gonna be a long flight and eveyone around us will be mad. Damn straight mother effer. If you have to bring a child that age on a plane at least have the courtesy of attempting to control it. Or better yet drug it. I did it to my cat, do it to your kid if u decide not to control it.

Ready for Texas

As you can see I am ready for Texas. I have a business trip there that will keep me off U street for two weeks. My friend The District will be making a special guet appearance next weekend. Pray for me friends...

My Mom!

Some of you know but some of you don't so I thought I would use the blog to share the latest news. Last week I got a phone call from my Mom and they found a spot on one of her kidneys. She had another CT scan on Monday and then went to the Dr. today. The results are not so great...the spot is some sort of tumor and according to the Dr.'s must be removed. It is approximately 2 inches long and it could be cancerous...result instead of a biopsy or removing part of the kidney to get the tumor they will be removing the entire kidney. Completely scary!

We are waiting on two more tests this coming week and then a surgery date will be scheduled. The surgery will be done via Laparoscopy so it won't be invasive and will only require a couple of days in the hospital.

Michael is leaving for Texas on Sunday (unless IKE has other plans for him) and once we have a surgery date I will be making my arrangements for flying to FL. I will keep everyone posted on what's going on. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Thanks to each of you for being my friend and part of my DC family!
