Our First Post From Mexico...
So Cat being a Chimney is not the problem with losing my phone one hour into being in Mexico...just sheer stupidity. You all know that I have been bitching and moaning all afternoon wondering where the damn thing is. I spent over an hour with the funjet guy tracking down the driver to see if my phone is there...they say it is not...yeah right. That shiney phone I am sure was already sold on the street for like 50 pesos or something. UGHHH! Just had to send out the plea for help since I have been trying since I realized I lost it to cancel the service through customer service...this sucks.
Guess it couldn't have happened at a better time since it is only $40 for four days of Internet access an $.99 per minute for roaming...yeah! The boys are out by the pool drinking (there's a surprise) while I blog and let my latest rounds of meds kick in. This one beer bullshit all day SUCKS; I am in Mexico for god's sake!
We took some pictures and will blog those later or tomorrow...the walk from our room to the lobby is so damn far with the pool bar in between that I somehow expect that the blogging will not happen as often as we would like.

City Update
All the craziness on Clifton and 14th has now been cleaned up and the manhole fixed but our friends in Mt. Pleasant fared even worse this week. As seen in the news link below hundreds of residents have been displaced with essentially nothing but the clothes on their backs. It seems that the firefighters went back in to try to find some of the residents belongings but the building has been declared unsafe so the residents will not be allowed back in. Many ran out without coats and shoes even. This awful tragedy could have been much worse but fortunately no one was killed and their were only minor injuries.

The Aftermath...

As seen here the aftermath of the Manhole Fire Monday night. Clifton is still closed and the light is still out; crossing the street in the morning you are surely putting your life in the hands of those who don't know what a 4 way stop sign is...seriously do we need to have driving 101 lessons in DC? At this point there doesn't seem to be a projected end to how long it will take to clean up the mess. I hope the poor soul who's SUV was torched by this so called "Faulty Underground Cable" had good insurance.
So with all the being said how does one have a "Faulty Underground Cable" that causes a fire with enough force to blow manhole covers and torch cars...you better believe I will be avoiding manhole covers when I walk down the street. I am sure there was a reason for this and probably one that could have been prevented; it is after all PEPCO that we are dealing with.
Word to the wise avoid manhole covers and if you are planning on driving to movie night tonight you might have an issue parking near the house...take the bus or take a cab.
